Anybody can go to a dealer and look at a Ferrari and say it's lovely. In most cases, a Ferrari would be worth taking a picture of to show off to your friends so they can look at it and say "pretty sure that's a Lambo dude." There are however places where a Ferrari is just another car. These places include Monaco, Monterey, and the Woodward Dream Cruise.
The Woodward Cruise is different from these places. In Monaco or Monterey, a Ferrari isn't a big deal because EVERYBODY has a Ferrari. A Ferrari delivered your mail this morning. On Woodward, a Ferrari isn't that big of a deal because there is so much more to look at. While anybody can go to a dealer and look at a 458, have fun looking for a dealer specializing in any of these:
This is based on a Dodge Challenger, and looks straight out of the movie Cars
Kind of like a firetruck in training.
Tractor engine. Enough said
I think there's a Corvette in there somewhere.
This thing has a 350 crate motor in it.
Sitting with all the Lingenfelter cars, claims to be "Americas Supercar"
Easily the best trash truck I've seen ever. Very fast and very, very loud.
High-Centering madness. I love it.
These 3 were traveling all together. I want one.
Kind of like a Lotus Europa and a Z-Car had a kid.
Covered wagon action.
Powered by a Northstar V8. What is this thing!?
A couple driving their V8 front engined cars that were never meant to be front engined or have a V8. Both featured rather sizable tires and a healthy rumble.
Another thing you get at Woodward is rare cars. Very rare.
A Kaiser! I think.
Saab goodness
An Edsel wagon pulling a trailor.
A Lamborghini Jalpa. I forgot these existed.
An Aztec with tent attachment..
Ford GTX1. The bar across the center confused me, perhaps $kay could give some input.
Porsche Boxster Spyder without tent attachment.
Alfa 4C
Now this is an Abarth. Non closing hood and all.
Alfa GTV6
A Radical. Forgot these existed as well.
what is this!?
Also if you're in Detroit with a Million+ string audience, you're bound to see something preproduction.
Heavy Camo. Any guesses?
2015 Mustang
Zo6 convertible
Hellcat Challenger
Trampled Underhood
Growl
Guess what this is.
New Charger Hellcat
another 2015 'Stang
This is my random category. Enjoy!
This is a Bricklin! Rutledge Wood had one of these.
Very fitting placement.
You really can cruise in anything.
Anything
ANYTHING
This is a Mercedes SLK that someone managed to shoehorn the BiTurbo V12 from the SL65 AMG under the hood. I want one badly.
What Were You Thinking: Ford Edition.
This guy wins all of the things.
I didn't know Janis Joplin owned a 2CV.
Jensen Healey
Twin turbocharged V8 Tupperware
ZAM! BLAMMO! WOW!
A fully fledged Dale Earnhardt Sr. tribute car.
Why would you need 500 air fresheners?
This years Dream Cruise was truly in a class of one. Amazing exotics, crazy customs, all driven by amazing people who all share a love of cars. I'm leaving Woodward this year smelling like gasoline with shoes covered in coolant. My feet hurt from walking, my neck hurts from turning and I have a wicked sunburn and raccoon eyes I'm going to have a tough time explaining at school tomorrow. The crazy thing is, despite all this, I cannot wait for next year.

Ford GTX1. The bar across the center confused me, perhaps $kay could give some input.
It's a t-top conversion for the normally-coupe GT. It's sorta rarer to sport a t-top since most/all GTX-1 pictures I've seen went with the full targa/speedster roof.

I'm glad they're putting the awesome kitteh logo on the production models.
![]() 08/17/2014 at 22:38 |

Only on some. A few I saw driving around later in the day just said "Supercharged" in place of the "kitteh"
![]() 08/17/2014 at 22:38 |

I like kitteh better.

That Caterpillar powered Ford was pretty sweet. Me and my buddies rolled around in the back of his truck in lawn chairs. Its the best way to see the cruise

We did a little of everything. Walking, driving, sitting. Either way you're going to see some pretty amazing machinery.

"Goddamn, how can there be that many auto journos in one area?"
"
Just turn down this boulevard here, we'll get up to highway speed and lose 'em
"
*
Drives briskly for about ten minutes*
"
Oh no, they're back! Look at all those cameras and smartphones! And there's a traffic jam! How did they know we'd be here? GPS?"
"
Wait...what street is this?"
"
Sign back there said 'wood-something', I think..."
"
Ward. Woodward. And it's sunday. *Looks up the calender on his smartphone.*"
"What?"
"
Fuck. Nothing. It doesn't matter now. We are so fired..."

Detroit hot rodding at its finest.

This literally looks like it's half that car. How did they even get it in there...?

Nope I love it. and the wheels look great.

Thank you, I wanted to post something other than the "heres a Gallardo, and a 458, another 458, this 458 is a spyder." Because there is so much more to be seen at an event like this than the several $100,000 supercars designed for the 1%. After 3 days of standing out looking at cars, exotics were very pretty, but they didn't excite me where as the last car with the giant flaming head towing a coffin was about 5 minutes before we went in for dinner. I was tired and hungry and hot and I still jumped out of my seat ad snapped a thousand pictures of it. People with cars like these had the intuitive to build and design these things, they deserve all the credit they can get.

Thats a Puma!
![]() 08/18/2014 at 00:13 |

Unique cars are always fun to see. Maybe that's why we all like exotics in the real world. But you're absolutely correct that, when you're in a sea of exotics, seeing a truly one-off creation is much more exciting.

My Favorite thing about the cruise and the weird cars that it brings is just that, the weird. Usually some odd swap done by some dude in his garage with what he had laying around.
No focus group to determine what to build, no multi-million dollar engineering staff, and the budget is only limited to what the wife/girlfriend/partner/bank account will let you spend.
I suppose it's the DIY-ness of the cruise that i appreciate, making your vision and then presenting it to the world. Sometimes its a damn cool car sometimes its a Youabian Puma..

I was behind this alfa for a good half hour. It was blowing oil smoke like you wouldn't believe.

The removable roof also has t-tops so you can have convertible, t-tops, or a hardtop on your GT. You don't see them sporting the t-tops very often though.

Advanced Automotive's Heldo . Kinda cool actually.
![]() 08/18/2014 at 16:35 |

I take issue with you saying that the Fiero wasn't supposed to have a V8. The original design called for a Chevy small block and the bespoke suspension that would ultimately see the light of day in the '88 GT.

They managed to shit on two great cars with one abomination.

You didn't see the 959? I was pretty in awe when I saw it. But everything you say is spot on. It's such a diverse and awesome event. I'm sad it's over.

I'm digging the hell out of the Rossi 66 and the Dodge Challenger Daytona. And, for the record, I also happen to love that little Mustang II. It's a great example of a car that really isn't as bad as people would have you believe (though, no, it's not great, either; though it has the potential to be), and I love the fact that someone cared enough to take care of it without giving a shit what anyone else thought.

This has always been one of my favorite cars (truck? whatever) from Dreamcruise. And really, Dreamcruise is the best example of why I love Detroit: there are so many people that are so into cars that you can find anything you can think of.

It would be great if another weeklong event could materialize on Woodward that consisted of American muscle cars, like it was earlier on.Somehow along the way, imports, minivans, clown cars, golf carts, and all manner of things began appearing.

Ugh I bet it's an option...$500 Hellcat Kitteh Badge.
![]() 08/18/2014 at 17:04 |

The Kitteh is how the production cars will be; the "supercharged" ones are prototypes still.
![]() 08/18/2014 at 17:06 |

This is the correct answer. They put the Kitteh on the charger and people liked it so much they decided to put it on the challenger in lieu of the Supercharged.

The Rossi 66 is the only retro Corvette rebody that actually adjusts the lines of the car to match the very modern A-pillar. I love them and they are the ones I would have, if I were forced to have one.
These suck.
